What does this "UACS" thing do, exactly?

UACS provides a variety of services to the undergraduate population of computing science. Listed below are a few you might want to check out.

Tutor Listing

Need some help with your courses from someone who's been there and done that? The SU maintains a tutor registry for Computing Science courses that can point you in the right direction.

Job Postings

An official and extensive list of career and job opportunities is available at the University of Alberta CAPS website, but we at UACS get job postings sent to us now and then as well. Stop by the office or check the weekly update for details. We also keep a rack stocked with Job Postings magazines outside our door.

Books

Writing a Perl script and can't quite remember how that regexp should work? Stop by the UACS office and grab a book from our O'Reilly library. Through the O'Reilly User Group program, UACS gets copies of books for our library literally for a song (well, if a review counts as a song). If there's a book you want that we don't have, and you're willing to write up a short review of it, we can get it for you.

Old Exams

The SU has a massive collection of old exams, but we have a bunch of CMPUT ones as well. They're poorly organized here.

Did you know that we sell ridiculously cheap snacks and drinks? It's true!

During the the Fall and Winter semesters, our VP Social sends out weekly updates to keep you up to date on the latest activities in the department. If you're not in the department and still want to hear about our valiant efforts, send us an email and we'll send you the intel.

UACS has a brand new kettle this year. It doesn't taste like plastic because it's not made of plastic. To find out what it's made of, stop by the office!

We have the sexiest lockers on campus for only $10 per term plus a $5 lock deposit. Come get one while they're hot!
