what's new?

03.04.07

Two years later...

Sorry about the lack of updates, but a lot of things have changed in a couple years. I did the World of Warcraft thing, which ended rather poorly with me quitting my guild because of raid issues and tendonitis. Neil and I got married, we got (and lost) a bunny... (Please support NASAP, the Northern Alberta Society for Animal Protection, who have been wonderful in providing a foster home for a bunny we could not keep.) I quit doing my comic for a couple years, and then started up again. And about a year ago I started a sketchblog and deviantArt gallery for all my more recent works. I am also in the slow process of uploading my photos to Flickr, for purposes of cheap offsite backup.

So, I probably won't be updating this page all that often. Not that I do anyway. Check the above pages for art-related stuff, and the Gothbunnies page at the side for (hopefully) regular comic updates.

I am in the process of making a better Story Seed Generator, one which will be more useful to me, and anyone else who actually still uses it.

05.05.05

After a long silence, it seems like an auspicious day for an update.

First of all, I tossed together a Story Seed Generator for 24-Hour Comic Day. It's a little cgi script that spits out a random character, object and location you have to use in your comic (or story). Clearly, its crazy randomness could also be useful for other short story-type creations, so I'm going to keep it where it is and if people happen to have ideas for characters, objects and locations to add to the database, mail me at munkymu@gmail.com and if they're not in there already I will add them. I am also thinking of ways to improve this script for next year.

What else is new? Welp, I took up knitting (again) in February, and have just finished my first sock. So I will be putting up a gallery of finished objects, works in progress, and crazy ideas for projects sometime in the very near future.

Also, in the interests of getting some use out of our library, I have started reading all the fiction on my shelves that I have not already read. I just finished the first book of my gigantic project: Lynn Abbey's "Unicorn and Dragon", which was interesting enough. I am planning to turn this newfound resolve into about a hojilion book reviews, so look for those trickling in over the summer.

And lastly, Neil and I got to take my cow-orker's rabbit out for a two-day test drive of neverending excitement. The rabbit's name was Neo, but we ended up eventually nicknaming him Niblick, because that's what rabbits do. He was a very friendly, mellow little guy, and we enjoyed having him at our house, even if he did pee all over the rug. Neil does happen to be somewhat allergic to them, we think, but since Neo might be looking for a home, we might eventually have a rabbity addition to our household. So, thanks, Ken, for letting us borrow your rabbit. Our house is much cleaner now! Also, I wrote up a summary of the weekend, which I may turn into a comic.

First off, all Gothbunny news will now be posted on the Gothbunny newsblog. It's also more active and personal than this page. I put stuff up there merely because I'm bored, not just when something changes.

Otherwise, I've finally put something up on the reviews page. Right now it contains the book and restaurant reviews I put up on the Chaos wiki, but it will probably contain more stuff in the future as time becomes available.

28.12.04

I've been trying to promote Gothbunnies online for the past few months. So far, I've been listed on Onlinecomics.net, The Webcomics List, and The Belfry Webcomic Index. I've also sent some e-mail to people who are entirely too busy with their Christmas projects to pay any attention to me. Alas.

ANYway, now that holidays are upon me, I'm adding stuff to the gothbunnies page to make it more shiny. Today's addition is the cast page. I got some fancy markers a while back, but they're too expensive to actually use without some dire purpose. And this is it -- anthropomorphic rabbit portraits. Whee!

The next couple additions to the Gothbunny page should be a gothbunny-specific news log and an art section. Also, maybe I'll separate the webcomic links from the bigger link page, to make them easier to find.

Welp, my work here is done. Back to World of Warcraft. See you all next July.

16.11.04

A second stab at a weeb design, this time experimenting with style sheets and aesthetic considerations.

15.10.04

I've gotten tired of the design morass that was my web page, so I've thrown something together to sit there and be functional while I do a total and useful redesign. One that is easy to update. Mmmm.

27.09.04

The Gothbunnies had their first monthiversary a couple days ago! I still can't believe I'm sticking to a weekly deadline, especially through a month like this one has been -- the user tide has come in, I've had a steady headache for two weeks now, Sims 2 came out and every Thursday I am rendered unable to move thanks to the Wing Chun workout from Hell. No one else can believe that I'm sticking to a deadline, either. Every time I ask my friends if they're enjoying the comic they look vaguely surprised and ask if I'm still updating it.

Word has it that one's art is supposed to improve if one practices by, say, drawing a weekly comic. Mine, however, seems to be going straight to Cthulhu's colon. I drew the first few hunched over a desk at work, squeezed between the keyboard and the edge, and constantly interrupted by passing toolwads. In the past month, I got some nice non-bleeding marker paper and a drafting table. As a result, I can no longer draw well. The last couple pages have been a nightmare.

Anyway. Maybe I can catch up on the bunny backlog this weekend and finally scan all those photos I've been promising to put up. See you all next month.
